Privacy policy

What we collect

• Booking details: your name, email, phone number, date of birth, trip dates and the car you book.
• Driver's license: license number, state and expiry date, and the photos you upload, so we can confirm you're allowed to drive.
• Insurance: your insurer and policy number if you use your own insurance.
• Rental agreement: your signature, the name you typed, the time you signed and the IP address you signed from.
• Trip records: odometer, fuel level and condition photos taken at pickup and return, plus any damage or incident reports.
• Payments: card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number; we keep a record of what was charged, held and refunded.

How we use it

To confirm and run your rental: verify your license and age, take payment and the deposit, contact you about your trip, document the car's condition, and resolve damage, tolls or tickets. We also keep records required for taxes and accounting. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

Only the services that run JoyRide: Stripe (payments), our email provider (trip emails), and our hosting and database providers. We may share information with insurers, law enforcement or toll and parking authorities when needed to handle an incident involving your rental, or when required by law.

How long we keep it

License photos are deleted automatically 365 days after your most recent trip ends, unless you have another trip booked. Signed agreements, trip, payment and incident records are kept as business records for as long as the law requires.

Cookies

Renters don't need an account, and we don't use advertising or tracking cookies. The only cookie we set is a sign-in cookie for JoyRide staff.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete your information by replying to any email from us. We'll delete what we're not required to keep.
